Covid-19

Closure during Coronavirus Pandemic

On 23rd March the Prime Minister placed the UK into lockdown. Since then all dental practices have been closed for all but a remote triage service. If you require emergency advice please call the practice on 01925 765757 or email vdpemail@talktalk.net

We are preparing to Re-Open

On 28th May the government announced that Dental Practices in England can begin to re-opening from 8th June if they have the necessary Infection Control and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements in place. We are currently working on securing appropriate PPE and updating our practice environment and procedures to ensure that we keep our staff and patients safe. When we are happy that we can do this we will re-open. Since the start of lockdown we have had to cancel all appointments and when we reopen we will initially be prioritising appointments for our existing patients who have had dental emergencies or appointments cancelled in order of urgency. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE PRACTICE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT

What to Expect when we Re-Open

When we re-open you need to be aware that this will not be business as usual. The treatments you are offered may be different to those you have received before, depending on staff and equipment available. It will take some time before services return to what you previously experienced as normal. Please be patient. Hand sanitisers will be placed at the entrance, our PPE will be upgraded and the patient journey re-designed in line with social distancing. We will be conducting pre-screening tests of patients which is likely to include taking your temperature on arrival. We will be booking appointments to ensure the practice and waiting areas are not overcrowded, We will do this by leaving suitable gaps between appointments, making sure you can attend the practice while maintaining social distancing. We will also be creating clinics for patients who are most vulnerable, to help minimize contact with others for this group whilst they are in the practice. To avoid overcrowding when you arrive at the practice, we will ask that you wait in your car or in a safe place outside until called in. We will notify you by phone when you should enter the practice. You will be required to fill in all relevant forms on your electronic device, before you enter the practice, from the comfort of your home. This means you will not have to touch a pen, paper or any electronic device other than your own when you attend your appointment. We will ask you to pay using a contactless card or online payment method. This crucial step greatly reduces the touch points at the practice. Between all appointments, as always, the dental team will thoroughly disinfect the dental surgery, reducing the risk of exposure to anything harmful while you are in the dental chair. We thank you all for your patience during this difficult time and look forward to seeing you again soon. Dr Joanne Finn and all the team at the Village Dental Practice
